Frequently Asked Questions

You don't have to have everything figured out before you reach out.

Starting therapy can bring up a lot of questions. Here are some of the things people commonly want to know before getting started.

If you don’t see your question here, you’re always welcome to reach out and ask.

What can I expect from therapy?

Therapy is a collaborative process. Our first sessions are an opportunity to get to know one another, understand what brings you in, and identify what you would like to work on.

You don’t need to arrive with everything figured out. We can start wherever you are.

Do you work with children and teens?

Yes. Children and teens are an important part of my practice.

I work with children and adolescents experiencing anxiety, emotional overwhelm, self-esteem concerns, school-related challenges, peer difficulties, emotional regulation concerns, family changes, mood and behavioral concerns, and other developmental or relational challenges.

My background in Child and Adolescent Development, combined with my training as a Marriage & Family Therapist, allows me to consider the child within the context of their family, school, relationships, and larger environment.

Do you work with families and parents?

Yes. Family therapy and parent support are an important part of my work.

Sometimes helping a child means helping the whole family adjust.

I often say that we can work with the child, put a little bow on them, and send them right back into an environment that hasn’t yet learned how to support the changes and shifts that are happening.

Involving the family can help everyone understand what is changing and learn new ways of communicating, connecting, and supporting one another.

Do you work with schools?

When appropriate and with the necessary permissions, I can collaborate with parents, educators, and other professionals involved in a child’s care.

School is such an important part of a child’s world, and creating consistency between therapy and a child’s everyday environment can be incredibly helpful.

Do you work with adults?

Yes. I work with adults around concerns including anxiety, self-esteem, relationships, life transitions, identity, body image, chronic pain, and emotional well-being.

I also have a particular interest in women’s mental health and supporting women living with endometriosis and chronic pain.

Do you work with women with endometriosis?

Yes. Endometriosis and chronic pain are a particular area of interest within my work with women’s mental health.

I was diagnosed with endometriosis in late 2025, and my own journey toward physical and mental well-being inspired me to create more space in my practice for women navigating similar experiences.

Living with chronic pain can affect much more than the physical body. It can influence relationships, work, plans, confidence, identity, and emotional well-being. Therapy can provide a place to process these experiences and develop ways to cope with the emotional and relational impact of chronic health challenges.

Do you offer EMDR?

I am EMDR-trained and may incorporate EMDR into treatment when it is clinically appropriate.

EMDR is one of several approaches I may use depending on your needs and goals.

Do you provide nutritional counseling?

No. My training in Nutritional Psychology informs the way I understand the relationship between mental health, the gut-brain connection, emotional eating, body image, habits, and the mind-body connection.

I do not provide dietary treatment, prescribe diets, or provide nutritional counseling.

However, when nutritional support would be helpful, I can refer you to a qualified nutrition professional and, with your permission, collaborate with them as part of your overall care.

I believe that supporting the whole person sometimes means bringing the right professionals together.

What is Walk & Talk Therapy?

Walk & Talk Therapy is an outdoor therapy option that combines psychotherapy with walking in nature.

For clients who are a good fit, I offer Walk & Talk Therapy at TreePeople’s Coldwater Canyon Park, located between Beverly Hills and Studio City.

Some people find that walking and being outdoors helps them feel more comfortable, present, and connected during therapy.

Walk & Talk Therapy is offered by appointment and when clinically appropriate. We’ll also discuss privacy, weather, accessibility, and other practical considerations before beginning.

Do you offer equine therapy?

Equine-assisted therapy is currently coming soon.

I am continuing my training and developing future equine-based therapy and program offerings. More information will be shared as these offerings become available.

Do you offer online therapy?

Yes. I offer virtual therapy for clients in California and Wisconsin, when clinically appropriate and permitted by applicable licensing requirements.

We’ll discuss whether online therapy is a good fit for your needs during the initial conversation.

Where are you located?

I am based in Woodland Hills, California, where I offer in-person therapy.

I also offer virtual therapy to clients in California and Wisconsin, when permitted by applicable licensing requirements.

For clients who are a good fit, I also offer Walk & Talk Therapy at TreePeople’s Coldwater Canyon Park between Beverly Hills and Studio City.

Do you accept insurance?

I am an out-of-network provider and do not bill insurance companies directly.

I can provide you with a superbill, which is a receipt containing the information your insurance company may need to process an out-of-network claim.

Because every insurance plan is different, it is the client’s responsibility to contact their insurance company directly to determine whether their plan provides out-of-network mental health benefits and what reimbursement may be available.

Before beginning therapy, I recommend asking your insurance company:

  • Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?
  • What is my out-of-network deductible?
  • Has my deductible been met?
  • What percentage or amount will my plan reimburse for an out-of-network therapy session?
  • Is there a limit on the number of sessions covered?
  • Do I need a diagnosis or any other documentation?
  • How do I submit a superbill or out-of-network claim?

I am happy to provide the documentation you need from my end, but insurance coverage and reimbursement are determined by your individual insurance plan.

How much does therapy cost?

My current fee and payment information will be discussed with you before beginning therapy.

Because insurance plans and reimbursement policies vary, your out-of-network benefits are separate from my private-pay fee.

How do I know if we're a good fit?

You don’t have to know that before reaching out.

The initial conversation is a chance for both of us to determine whether my approach, experience, and the type of support you’re looking for feel like a good match.

Finding the right therapist matters, and it’s okay to ask questions.

Did you write a children's book?

Yes! I wrote Nova’s Wild Adventure, a children’s story inspired by something many children—and adults—can relate to: having a mind and body that just won’t slow down.

Nova uses her imagination to travel to magical places and discovers that calm can be found in unexpected ways. The story encourages children to pause, breathe, and begin discovering what helps them feel calm.

Writing this book brought together two things I love: working with children and creating stories that help them understand themselves.

How do I get started?

You can reach out through the contact page to schedule an initial conversation.

You don’t need to know exactly what you need. Just tell me a little about what brings you to therapy, and we’ll take it from there.

You can start with a question. You don’t have to start with an answer.
